ARTSRWC: And the Winner is....
Meet the Redwood City Artist who designed our Summer Event T-shirt, and then GO BUY THEM!
YO Redwood City!
The wait is finally over. I can now reveal, on the cusp of the opening of our super summer season, the winner of the T-shirt contest and reveal the outstanding winning design....here we go!
ARTS RWC and the Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation are pleased to congratulate Betty Matsumoto-Schuch as the winner of the first annual Summer Event T-shirt Contest. Betty is “honored to be chosen” and said she “put her heart into it.” She believes the concerts and art programs are “the best thing that happen in the downtown” and enjoys attending the events with her husband. A committee comprised of ARTS RWC and PRCS members had the task of choosing one design from the many submitted. “We had a bunch of great designs submitted and it was a challenge to pick just one. But in the end, we felt like Betty’s image completely captured all the fun and excitement of the summer events 'on the Square,’” Beth Mostovoy, ARTS RWC chair explained.
Betty received a $250 prize, generously provided by the Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation as well as accolades by Mayor Alicia Aguirre at the City Council meeting on Monday. Betty has lived in Redwood City since 1988 and loves it. She is a freelance illustrator and works from home. She attributes her enjoying and experiencing the downtown events for influencing how she created her winning image. Betty’s design will be sold on event T-shirts and tank tops all summer long starting this Friday, June 7th at the first Music on the Square. Plus, you can add the concert schedule on the back. Betty may even appear onstage sporting her winning t-shirt so make sure you attend!
Sales of these special commerative shirts will go to fund summer events. So when you wear your 2013 Summer Events “on the Square” T-shirt, you will not only look COOL, but will be keeping our great summer events alive! And they make great gifts, while showing off how GREAT RWC is to your friends and family.
Congratulations, Betty! We intend to make the Summer Event T-shirt contest an annual event, so start thinking up some ideas...altho Betty has set the bar pretty high.
