Soup & Nuts: Dragon Theatre presents: November by David Mamet
Find out what's happening in Redwood City-Woodsidewith free, real-time updates from Patch.
The Dragon roars on in Downtown Redwood City. Their sixth and final offering in a wildly successful first year is November, opening November 22nd.
A lesbian, a turkey lobbyist, and a Native American walk into the White House... it's not a bad joke, it's November by David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross). There's hilariously biting commentary on the state of the union, a politically incorrect (and possibly inept) president in the death throes of his failing re-election campaign, and some Thanksgiving turkey pardons for sale - so basically it's vintage Mamet. Please be aware that this play contains a good deal of adult language (which is also vintage Mamet).

Coffee and: Hope you saved some room for dessert, because I have a few little tidbits for y’all to feast on. Relax, NO CALORIES, but oh so very sweet!
Exciting news for 2014!
Pumpkin Pie: Didja know, that the Bay Area’s premier Art Store, University Art, will be leaving their long time store in Palo Alto and moving on up to…REDWOOD CITY?? Be still my beating heart! Their new home will be located on El Camino in new digs currently being built where Suraj Restaurant once stood, next to the former Mel’s Bowl site. This is GREAT news and very exciting for the continued growth and importance of ART in RWC. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.
Dollop of Whipped Cream: I would like to leave you with this: Stay tuned and cross your fingers, as there are plans in the works to begin a program to paint Utility Boxes in Redwood City, pending approval. Many cities have done this and it not only creates a partnership with artists, communities and, cities, it also beautifies neighborhoods, while deterring graffiti….win, win, win! This is possible thanks to the City Council passing our new Public Art Policy. I am very excited and proud that ARTS RWC is very involved with the creation of this terrific program. I think y’all will LOVE to see how art will transform and enhance the beauty of your neighborhood and our City…so keep good thoughts and hopefully, we will be able to move forward in the spring….how YUMMY is that?
That’s all I got – for now. I wish you all a bountiful and Happy Thanksgiving with friends and family…may blessings, laughter and sweetness abound.
And Remember to Always Follow your H’art!
