PHOTOS OF THE DAY: Hummingbird Nest

Does it seem early?

This Anna's Hummingbird has rebuilt her ping pong ball-sized nest made of lichen and spider silk in the same spot on the same branch as last year. These birds nest anytime from mid-December to June, so I don't think the recent warm weather has much to do with this hummer's timing.

This little hummingbird mama is breath-taking. Thanks for these beautiful pictures you bring us, Stuart, of the native life on our coast!

"...her ping pong ball sized nest,..." Wow Nice pics; wish there were more. Heck, as long as I'm wishing, a video would be sweet, although probably near impossible. Thanks for the pics. Leaves me wanting more and very appreciative.

Thanks everyone. Video might not be out of the question, once the young are born.
