PHOTOS: Youth Theater Group Gets Lost in Wonderland

The Redwood City Community Youth Theater puts on its first ever show: Alice in Wonderland.

The Redwood City Community Youth Theater presented its first ever show Friday in Carrington Hall at . Twenty-three actors and actresses ages 6-14 will perform the Disney classic, Alice in Wonderland.

The play is part of a two week camp sponsored by the Redwood City . Directors Bill and Maureen O'Neil created a similar program in Orange County through the parks and recreation department of San Clemente 10 years prior to moving to Redwood City in March. 

Most actors and actresses would grimace at the thought of performing a show after only two weeks of rehearsal. Especially when this show is the first for many in the cast. However, Maureen and Bill O'Neil with the help of a talented crew made it happen.

Sami Cohen, the choreographer, said at first it was difficult for the children to sing and dance simultaneously. After carefully choreographing, the children were able to succeed.

The Redwood City Community Youth Theater will host workshops in the fall and by January they will host more "traditional" rehearsals in the afternoon.
