Photo Slideshow: Jewelry and Music on the Square Draws Huge Crowds

Redwood City's Jewelry on the Square appeared to be a huge success Friday night.

Huge crowds poured into Courthouse Square Friday night for this year's Jewelry on the Square.

Weekly concerts are the norm in Courthouse Square during the summer, and a few times a year, they are paired with artists' booths so music lovers can browse and do a little shopping while enjoying the music in the background. On Friday night, the booths were all jewelry.

Rows of jewelry booths lined the streets behind the concert area, featuring everything from earrings, to necklaces, to bracelets and even handmade jewelry boxes.

The night's entertainment was provided by Aja Vu, a Steely Dan tribute band. Crowds staked out their spots all around the stage, some nearly two hours in advance, and once the band started, they didn't disappoint. Music lovers as old as 80 and as young as 2 years old could be seen dancing the night away in the courtyard.

Music on the Square takes place each Friday night in Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway St., beginning at 5 p.m. For more information, including the schedule of bands, visit http://www.redwoodcity.org/events/musiconthesquare.html.
