The Mads Tolling Quartet • Violinist / Jazz Fusion

Mads Tolling, internationally renowned violinist, violist, and composer, is a member of the two time Grammy Award-Winning Turtle Island Quartet. As a soloist, he regularly tours as jazz violinist with the acclaimed bassist Stanley Clarke and his touring band. In 2007 Mads Tolling started his own trio and immediately recorded the album “Speed of light.” The following year the trio expanded to a quartet. In it are some of the top Bay Area musicians, including Mike Abraham on guitar, George Ban-Weiss on bass and Eric Garland on drums. Mads Tolling Quartet has performed all over the San Francisco Bay Area and the West Coast including Yoshi’s San Francisco, Russian River Jazz Festival, Yerba Buena Gardens and Summerlin Library in Las Vegas. MTQ is touring nationally and internationally in 2011 in support of their release: “The Playmaker”, featuring bass legend Stanley Clarke and jazz greats Russell Ferrante & Stefon Harris.

The Jazz on Main series continues this year, with Main Street hosting outdoor jazz concerts every Monday evening from June 20th through August 15th featuring the Bay Area's very best jazz artists. The jazz is on from 6 - 8 pm, and everyone can enjoy the music, eat at one of the many great restaurants along Main Street, and if the mood strikes – DANCE! The all-star lineup will be sure to make for many jazzed-up Monday evenings on Main Street in Downtown Redwood City’s Historic District.

Along with Jazz on Main, other exciting FREE evening events include: Music on the Square on Fridays, Dancing on the Square on Tuesdays, and Movies on the Square on Thursdays. Other ongoing free events in the coming months include seven special outdoor exhibits featuring Art on the Square, as well as weekend Target Family Days.
