Photos: Broadway By the Bay Presents Its ‘Marvelous’ Show

“The Marvelous Wonderettes” take over the Fox Theatre with ‘50s and ‘60s hits.

The four females of “The Marvelous Wonderettes” dazzle as they take us back to our own prom filled with crushes, best friend squabbles and dreams. The coming of age story features over 20 classic ‘50s and ‘60s hits.

The company had been rehearsing the show for a month before coming to the stage at the .

“It was such a joy coming to rehearsal,” said Amanda Folena, the director of the show. “This is such an amazing cast to work with.”

Amie Shapiro who plays Missy Miller agreed, “This is honestly the most positive, uplifting company I’ve ever performed with.”

With songs like “Mr. Sandman,” “Respect,” “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “It’s My Party,” and “It’s In His Kiss,” the musical is guaranteed to put the audience in a positive mood, even incorporating them into the vote for the “Queen of Dreams.”

Adrienne Walters who plays Suzy Simpson said, "This is most fun I've had on stage."

“It’s really a coming of age story,” Folena said. “It may be a little silly at times, but we can all relate to what the girls go through.”

The 2012 season is the second for Broadway by the Bay at the Fox Theatre, with the musical kicking off the season. The next musical in the season is Chorus Line. 

The show will run until Sunday, July 29, at the Fox Theatre in downtown Redwood City and tickets range in price from $20 to $48. You can purchase tickets by calling 650-579-5565 or visiting www.broadwaybythebay.org.

I agree, the public has the right to know what they are eating. It is absurd to be purchasing foodRead More that contains GMOs and not be able to know it is in the food.... why the secret if it is so safe??? I will not shop at any food stores that refuse to provide the public with information on what I am eating or serving to the people I care about. Trader Joes and Whole Foods have my loyalty for having the courage to stand up against the big guys and set an example by doing what is right for the consumer and not folding to pressure from Monsanto, Dupont and the other corporate giants that could care less about our safety and only care about how much money they can rake in.
