Play Golf for Charity or Find a New Job

Find out next year's school calendar, support a new housing development or attend a benefit at the Fox Theatre.

Monday, May 9

The Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce presents the Provident Credit Union 24th Annual Kainos Benefit Golf Tournament at the Stanford University Golf Course. From 10:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the event will include a BBQ lunch, shot contests, raffles, an auction, dinner and an awards ceremony. This fun-filled event also supports a great cause: Kainos is a home and training center for developmentally disabled adults.

The Groundbreaking ceremony for the newest supportive housing development will take place on-site at Cedar Apartments at 104 Cedar Street from 4 to 5:30 p.m. As part of the County-wide Affordable Housing Week, this 14-unit apartment complex for adults with mental illnesses is just one of many projects around San Mate County.

Tuesday, May 10

Meet local employers at the Employment Roundtable, featuring five to seven Bay Area-wide employers presenting on a panel. The employers will represent a wide variety of industries and will discuss their company, corporate culture, current/future career openings, and hiring processes.  Panelists will come from the following industries: marketing/distribution, retail, non-profit, staffing, and health care. The event will be from 10 .m. to noon at the downtown library. Hold off on making any vacation plans until tonight! Attend the board meeting at 7 p.m. to hear the board finalize the school’s calendar for the 2011-2012 school year.  

Thursday, May 12

The Young Dreamer Network is holding its First Annual Benefit Dinner at the Fox Theatre on Thursday, May 12 from 6 – 10 p.m. There will be an open-bar reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by dinner and entertainment from 7:30 – 10 p.m. . The Sun Kings (Beatles Tribute Band) will be playing and we will also have a special presentation by our Young Dreamers. Young Dreamers is a Redwood City-based youth development program whose mission is to empower promising youth from under-resourced communities to become leaders and agents of change in their communities.
