VIDEO: Fiestas Patrias Honors Real Mexican Independence Day

Courthouse Square came alive with Mexican pride and cultural sharing.

No, it’s not Cinco de Mayo. September 16, or Dieciséis de septiembre, is Mexico’s true Independence Day, and Redwood City was bursting with spirit accompanied by festivities, food and fun on Saturday in .

The community event allowed the large Latino population to celebrate their heritage as well as share cultural experiences and traditions with other cultures. The celebration of diversity in Redwood City could be seen in children’s smiles and the wonderful conversations amongst neighbors.

One of Redwood City’s sister cities is Colma, Mexico, so the bond was strengthened by the event Saturday.
