Catching Up With Inky, the Reigning 'Cutest Dog in Town'

Inky is enjoying his newfound fame as the reigning 'Cutest Dog in Town.' Here's a bit more about him and how his family came to own him.

To the Editors and Readers of Redwood City-Woodside Patch:

We adopted Inky from the Peninsula Humane Society on Valentines Day in 2011.

They really didn't know much about him, except that he had been picked up on the streets in San Mateo, and was between 1 and 2 years old.  He was the perfect Valentines present because he stole our hearts.

Campaigning for Inky to winthe Cutest Dog in Town contest on Patch was so much fun. We started with social media - posting on Facebook and Twitter asking people to vote for Inky.

We then sent out e-mail campaigns to all our friends. It didn't stop there.

We walk Inky twice a day around Redwood City, and started telling all our neighbors - Scruffy, Skippy, Tyson, Daisy, Lucy, Dakota... (well, we don't always know the humans' names - but we do know the dog's names!) to vote for Inky .

We asked all our friends at the YMCA on Hudson Street to vote, making little cards with his picture and a link to Patch's website, so it was easy to know how to vote.  And the votes rolled in - from New Orleans, Kansas, Missouri, Maine, and of course, Redwood City.

Inky wants to thank everyone who voted for him. He's perfecting his wave, so for now he just barks a "thank you!"

And with the $25 gift certificate from A+ Grooming, he will be getting a great haircut, one befitting the Cutest Dog in Town!

Thanks again to Patch for running such a fun contest,
