World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated throughout the world during the first week of August.  To celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, Nursing Mothers Counsel along with Kaiser Permanente, Mills-Peninsula Hospital, Sequoia Hospital, and San Mateo County WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) are holding the First Annual Anne Garrett Breastfeeding Walk on Sun., Aug. 4, from 1-3 p.m., at Central Park, 50 East 5th Ave., San Mateo.

This year's theme is "Breastfeeding Support:  Close to Mothers" which highlights mother-to-mother support.  This is exactly what Nursing Mothers Counsel (NMC) has provided since 1955.  NMC volunteers provide free breastfeeding education and one-on-one assistance to new moms.  Last year the S.F. Bay Area Chapter of NMC helped 625 moms.

Anne Garrett was a long standing NMC member, breastfeeding advocate, and leader in our community, and we are honoring her memory by inviting all the families NMC has helped to join us for this walk.

Kaiser Permanente, Mills-Peninsula Hospital, Sequoia Hospital, and San Mateo County WIC provide much breastfeeding support to new moms and they are inviting all their families to participate.

If you are associated with any of these groups, please bring your family and join us for a stroll through the park followed by refreshments (Area 4 picnic tables).

Meet at the Anne Garrett Memorial Bench which faces the tots playground (look for balloons).   RSVP at:  http://www.evite.com/event/0379NC2ZTL7RSYATAEPCVT7364RTLI
