Community Corner

SVgives on May 6th to benefit the Redwood City Libraries

On Tuesday, May 6th, thousands of Bay Area residents are going to show their support for their favorite non-profits during Silicon Valley’s first ever online giving day. On this coming Tuesday, every donation and donor will make an exponential impact because of matching grants.

If you have thought about supporting the Redwood City Libraries, but it just hasn’t happened, this would be a great time to give at any level and help them raise funds for their literacy programs. The goal this year is to raise money to complete the second phase of the Early Childhood Learning Center in the Downtown Library by adding additional structures and to add books and programs to enhance this area.

National studies show that up to 90% of a child’s brain develops during the first 3 years.  Less than 50% of our community’s 3rd graders are proficient in reading. Earlier literacy support is needed. The Early Childhood Learning Center will aid our preschool children in developing a strong foundation for reading skills and to prepare them to grow into our community’s leaders. Please help to expand this innovative Early Childhood Learning Center in our community.
