Sequoia High grad Sherry Sanders, who became the youngest person to complete an Ironman in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on June 23, is headed to Fordham University and will compete in the women's crew team there.
She consistently improved her erg scores as a high school senior, working towards being able to row at a highly competitive level in college.
Saunders has competed in the San Diego Crew Classic and at the Southwest Junior Rowing Championships at Lake Natoma.
Following her senior year of high school, using her base fitness from rowing, Sanders trained for the Ironman triathlon.
Fordham opens its rowing season on Oct. 12, participating at the Head of the Housatonic in Shelton, Conn.
