Bike-Share stalls have been cropping up. Yesterday they were populated with Bike Share bicycles. The program offers rentable bicycles for use around town for a modest cost. See the Bike Share website for details (http://bayareabikeshare.com/) As I passed through Redwood City, I found installations of Bike Share bicycles on Marshall and on Broadway with a small fleet at Redwood City Caltrain.
24-Hour and 3-Day Memberships may be purchased online and from any Bay Area Bike Share station kiosk using a credit or debit card. One credit or debit card can check out a maximum of two bicycles. A security hold of $101 is placed on your card. The pass is used at a Bike Share stand to print a Ride Code which unlocks a bicycle for you to use on your trip. Ride Codes are good for only one trip. For subsequent trips during your membership period, swipe your credit card at a kiosk to receive a new code at no extra cost. Eventually there will be annual memberships at $88 or $99 per year (the former billed annually, the latter billed monthly). More information can be found at the Bicycle Coalition website (http://www.sfbike.org/?bikeshare)
