This Tuesday is 'Giving Tuesday'

By Alex Wright, Sequoia Hospital Foundation

#GivingTuesday is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.

The idea is that we have a day for giving thanks (Thanksgiving), and two days devoted to spending (Black Friday and Cyber Monday), so why not start a national day of giving?

The #GivingTuesday campaign has an impressive list of backers, including the United Nations Foundation, Giving USA and the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, as well as remarkable leadership and advisors. More information is available at www.givingtuesday.org.

The Sequoia Hospital Foundation was proud to join as a nonprofit partner and we are the first, and we believe only, partner in the Redwood City area.

We at Sequoia believe that community support and giving back to the community are important, and we are proud to have granted more than $39 million to Sequoia Hospital for patient care and programs since our founding in 1984. All of that funding came as a result from individual gifts and grants from our generous community members and organizations.

Being a part of #GivingTuesday and creating awareness not only about our Foundation, but also giving in general, is important to us.
