Update: DUI Checkpoint Cancelled
CHP officers still plan to 'aggressively seek those who choose to drive drunk.'
UPDATED 3:06 P.M.:
The Redwood City Area Office of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has cancelled a sobriety checkpoint planned for Saturday, Dec. 22 to "aggressively seek those who choose to drive drunk."
The CHP will instead have those units patrol the area looking for drunk drivers.

"Every year, members of our community are injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. It is the department’s goal to use this enforcement tool to assist with the reduction of injury and fatal collisions that are caused by drunk drivers," said CHP Officer Arturo Montiel on Friday. "We are asking the public to designate a driver if they happen to allow alcohol to be part of their evening."
The checkpoint was originally scheduled from approximately 8 p.m. to midnight.
